Android app claims to be Madden 12 video game

With the Super Bowl less than two weeks away, Symantec researchers said Tuesday that have spotted a malicious application in unofficial Android markets claiming to offer a version of the popular video game Madden NFL 12. Once the trojan app is installed and launched, it attempts to send hidden texts to premium-rate numbers, at the expense of the phone owner, as well as connect to an IRC server for additional instructions. Symantec's Fred Gutierrez, in a blog post, advised users to only install applications from the official Android Market.
