Apple’s Safari browser updates available following bug fixes

Apple has released version 6.1.6 and 7.0.6 of its Safari browser following patched vulnerabilities recently discovered by its researchers.

The fixes address seven bugs tied to memory corruption issues which could lead to arbitrary code execution via a drive-by-download attack, according to a post on the company's security portal page.

The browser updates are available for Apple's Lion, Mountain Lion, and Mavericks operating systems – versions 10.7.5, 10.8.5 and 10.9.4 correspondingly. No update has been made available for the Snow Leopard operating system. This update comes 44 days after the previous one and is the sixth in the last 10 months.

While the updates are not available on Apple's download page, users can access the new versions by selecting “Software Update” in their Apple menu.
