Call center suspends workers in Northern Ireland over possible breach

Dozens of call center workers in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, have been suspended and are being investigated in a potential data breach, according to a report from the BBC.

The report said that First Source Solutions, a company that employs about 2,000 workers at three call center locations in Northern Ireland and 32,000 around the globe, sent out a letter to at least one employee, accusing him of fraud and mis-selling the products of a client, believed to be broadcasting company Sky.

Call center employee Daniel Laird said “there is constant pressure of having to do things you are not happy with” and that changes to policies and procedures make “it difficult for people to achieve their monthly bonuses,” the BBC reported.

The BBC initially pegged the number of workers affected at 90 but subsequent reports from the Belfast Telegraph put that number at 138.
