Clinton hires Google exec as CTO

Hillary Clinton has tapped Google executive Stephanie Hannon to serve as chief technology officer (CTO) on her likely 2016 presidential campaign.

Hannon has most recently been Google's director of product management for civic innovation and social impact. An anonymous source told the Washington Post that the she will oversee the technological development of the campaign. Hannon will a member of the senior staff at Clinton's New York office and lead a team of engineers and developers to devise websites, apps and other tools for digital portals to engage voter support.

Once Clinton announces her candidacy, Hannon's appointment will mark the first time a woman has served as CTO on a major presidential campaign,

At Google, Hannon developed technologies to help communities respond to natural disasters and share information concerning elections. She has also worked for Facebook, Cisco and Intel.
