Company news: Retired Army colonel, Jaquith make moves; Invincea launches

»Michael Brown (left), a retired U.S. Army colonel, has joined Deloitte's federal technology risk practice as a senior manager. In his new role, Brown will be tasked with creating and driving risk management and cybersecurity strategies, and will work with customers in the federal government. He previously served as chief information security officer of the Federal Aviation Administration and chief information officer of the Army National Guard.

»Invincea, maker of web browser protection solutions for endpoints, has launched. The Fairfax, Va.-based company produces software that seeks to safeguard computers against web-borne threats by moving browsers into a virtual environment. The software is deployed as an application to virtualize Internet Explorer.

 

»Accuvant, maker of research and assessment, risk and compliance management and technology solutions, has acquired Ciphent, a Baltimore-based provider of strategic security consulting and secure development solutions. The deal will expand Accuvant's presence to the mid-Atlantic in the United States, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

»Webroot, an internet security firm, has opened an office in Leidschendam, the Netherlands. The company's Dutch management team of Jeroen Vroemen and Peter Lindeman will lead the office, which opened in response to the company's growth in the Benelux market.

»NICE Actimize, provider of financial crime, risk and compliance software for the financial services industry, has expanded its partnership with FIS. The technology provider for the banking industry will integrate Actimize's fraud solution with its core processing systems to develop a joint offering.

»Andrew Jaquith (left) has been named CTO of Perimeter E-Security, a provider of security, compliance and messaging services. He most recently served as senior analyst at Forrester Research, where he led team coverage for data, endpoint and mobile security topics.

»Qualys, provider of security risk and compliance management solutions, has acquired Nemean Networks to bolster its research capabilities into intrusion and malware detection. Nemean's technology was built at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and resulted in four patents.

»NitroSecurity, provider of SIEM solutions, has acquired the security business of LogMatrix, maker of risk-based assessment and correlation technologies. In addition, NitroSecurity has secured $6 million in Series B venture capital funding.

»Veracode, a cloud-based application risk management company, has launched a global partner program. The program features an application testing platform that security providers can use to scale their business and create new revenue streams.
