A ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is seeking for answers regarding the KeyPoint Government Solutions data breach that impacted more than 40,000 federal workers.
In a letter to the company's CEO Eric Hess, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) described KeyPoint's vulnerable systems as posing a “clear and present danger to our nation's security,” the letter said.
Cummings asked the company for additional information related to the breach, including logs of previous cyber intrusions, forensic analysis findings related to the breach, any suspected identities, as well as improvements related to data security policies and those made by KeyPoint since the breach took place.
In December, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) notified 48,439 individuals that their information was at risk following a breach that impacted the company which performs background checks on employees at federal agencies.
