CVS investigating possible payment card breach, shuts down photo website

CVS has shut down its CVSPhoto.com website as it investigates a potential payment card breach.

“We have been made aware that customer credit card information collected by the independent vendor who manages and hosts CVSPhoto.com may have been compromised,” a notification posted on the CVSPhoto.com website said.

A CVS spokesperson confirmed to SCMagazine.com that the vendor partner is PNI Digital Media.

PNI Digital Media is reportedly the same company that operates the photo website for Walmart Canada, which announced a potential payment card breach earlier this month that resulted in the company shutting down walmartphotocentre.ca.

In a statement emailed to SCMagazine.com on Friday, CVS said that purchases made in-store are not affected, nor are financial transactions made on CVS.com, optical.cvs.com, and cvs.com/minuteclinic.
