ESET hires a new CEO, CloudPassage launches, plus other company news.

»Anti-virus firm ESET has named Andrew Lee (left) as CEO of its North American operations. Lee, the company's former chief research officer, succeeds Anton Zajac, who will remain with the company as president. In addition, Richard Marko, ESET's former CTO, has been appointed as global CEO. ESET also has recently hired Paul Laudanski, the former senior manager of investigations at Microsoft, as director of its Cyberthreat Analysis Center.

»Zscaler, provider of cloud-based web security, has named Amit Sinha as chief technology officer. He will be tasked with leading the research and development of the company's emerging technologies. Sinha most recently served as fellow and chief technologist of Motorola's enterprise networking and communication business and before that was CTO of wireless security vendor AirDefense.

»St. Bernard Software, provider of secure content management solutions, has changed its name to EdgeWave to reflect an expanded portfolio of web and email security, data protection and e-reputation offerings. The rebranding follows the company's recent acquisition of the assets of Red Condor, the hiring of five executives and the opening of a new worldwide headquarters in San Diego.

»IronKey, provider of portable data protection, has appointed Arthur Wong as CEO. David Jevans, the founder and current CEO, will take over as chairman of the board of directors. Wong previously managed Symantec's security and data management group and served as founder and CEO of Security Focus, later acquired by Symantec.

»Webroot, an internet security firm, has appointed Michael Malloy as executive vice president of products, and Gerry Coady to the role of chief information officer. Malloy previously served as chief marketing officer at Wily Technology, now part of CA, and Coady most recently was senior VP and CIO at Republic Airways/Frontier Airlines.

»Kathleen Carroll (left), director of global relations at identity and access control provider HID Global, has been elected chair of trade group TechAmerica's identity management committee. The committee works with federal and state governments to develop identity authentication and verification best practices.

»CipherOptics, provider of security solutions for high-performance networks, has changed its name to Certes Networks and refined its strategy to support secure cloud connectivity. The company, which has moved its headquarters to Pittsburgh from Raleigh, N.C., plans to soon provide a secure LAN extension from the data center to both public and private cloud infrastructures.

»CloudPassage, a Menlo Park, Calif.-based provider of software-as-a-service security and compliance solutions for elastic cloud servers, has launched. To be led by co-founder and CEO Carson Sweet, the company enables organizations to manage their own cloud security through a layered defense solution.

»Germany-based security firm Astaro has acquired CoSoSys for an undisclosed sum. Endpoint and data leakage prevention solutions belonging to CoSoSys, based in Romania, will be integrated into Astaro's unified threat management product.
