F5 Networks opens new security operations center

F5 Networks opened the doors to a new security operations center, (SOC) at its Seattle headquarters Thursday.

The tech company, in a press release, said the facility will monitor and gather information on global cyber attacks, including phishing schemes, malware and zero-day attacks. The SOC is designed to provide real time threat response and can shut down phishing sites, mitigate DDoS attacks, and analyze malware, particular for companies that might not have the internal resources to do so.

The center, which will track Layer 4-7 attacks, will use the Silverline cloud-based application platform to support clients.

Engineers at the company celebrated the opening with a mini demonstration of an online attack being redirected from a client's servers using F5's technology, according to Geekwire
