The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is probing a breach at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

The probe comes on the heels of a WikiLeaks dump of emails pilfered from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) by what security pros have said are hackers associated with Russian intelligence organizations, according to a report by Reuters.

In June a fake website whose name closely mirrored that of a donation site affiliated with the DCCC, which is housed in the same office as the DNC, was registered and campaign donations were funneled to it.

The IP address for that site was similar to one used by one of the Russian hacking groups believed to be behind the DNC intrusions, the report cited sources as saying.

Russia on Thursday reiterated that it wasn't behind the intrusions and said that the onus was on the U.S. to sort it out.

"As regards these (email) batches, that is not our headache. We never poke our noses into others' affairs and we really don't like it when people try to poke their nose into ours," AOL News quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying. "The Americans need to get to the bottom of what these emails are themselves and find out what it's all about."
