Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Mich. was hit by a cyber attack Thursday, one day after the hacktivist group, Anonymous, threatened to take action for the city's water crisis in a YouTube video.
Hospital spokeswoman Ilene Cantor told Mlive.com that patient care was not compromised and said officials were closely monitoring all systems to ensure that IT security is consistently maintained.
"Hurley Medical Center has IT systems in place, which aid in detecting a virus or cyber attack," Cantor said, adding that all of the policies and protocols were followed in relation to the recent attack.
Anonymous has not taken credit and there has been no confirmation that the two events are connected. On Jan. 20 Anonymous posted a four minute video criticizing Gov. Rick Snyder for his handling of the water crisis and calling for charges to be brought against him as part of #OpFlint.
