Franchises to get assistance on cybersecurity strategy

The National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) is teaming up with the International Franchise Association (IFA) to promote cybersecurity awareness and assist with strategy tactics towards online security among franchise businesses in the U.S., according to The Hill.

The industry groups intend to “work toward a collective goal to educate business owners about the basic steps they can take to become more cyber-secure,” Robert Cresanti, IFA executive vice president of government relations and public policy, told the news outlet.

The IFA currently represents franchise owners of popular chains that include 7-Eleven, Jiffy Lube, Papa John's, KFC and Dairy Queen.

Following the slew of breaches announced this year, which included one at Dairy Queen that affected 395 of its U.S. stores, President Obama signed an Executive Order to implement enhanced security measures for payment cards.
