FTC inks privacy collaboration deal with Dutch DPA

Looking to bolster its information sharing and enforcement capabilities with other data privacy agencies across the pond, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Dutch Data Protection Authority have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

The agreement will help the agencies further work together on privacy-related matters, according to a release by the FTC, which already has similar deals set up between other data protection authorities in the U.K. and Ireland.

“This arrangement with our Dutch counterpart will strengthen FTC efforts to protect the privacy of consumers on both sides of the Atlantic,” said FTC Chairwoman Edit Ramirez, according to the release.

At the recent International Association of Privacy Professionals Privacy summit in Washington, Ramirez indicated that the FTC will continue to ramp up its consumer privacy protection efforts
