Hacktivist school set up on dark web

Aspiring hacktivists can now login to a chat service hosted by Anonymous to learn coding and encryption.

Hidden from detection via use of the Tor browser, the internet relay chat (IRC) service on the dark web, dubbed OnionIRC, aims to build a strong community for those concerned about privacy and security and aims to "arm the current and coming generations of internet activists with education," according to a YouTube video posted on April 12 by the hacktivist collective.

"The continued efforts of governments to censor our seven sovereign seas has not gone unnoticed," a computerized voice explains on the video. "This is why we, once again, raise our Anonymous battle flags to expose their corruption and disrupt their surveillance operations."

The chatroom offers scheduled classes on security culture, hacking and use of encryption and anonymity software, according to the video, which has been viewed more than 12,000 times.
