Is SIEM up to the challenge?

Security information and event management (SIEM) tools help provide analysis of security alerts and make handling of log security data more manageable. The offering has evolved over the past decade to become one of the cornerstones of today's security practice, helping provide at least some peace of mind to organizations under continual assault. And it is likely to play a continued role going forward. Unfortunately, though, experts say SIEM alone may not be enough.

The challenges are just too overwhelming without additional assistance. What's needed, they say, is a combination of best practices and perhaps entirely new capabilities, either within SIEM or working with SIEM. Also on the table are newer deployment options such as managed services. With input from analysts, vendors and end-users, this latest ebook from SC Magazine paints a lucid picture of today's SIEM capabilities and challenges to help you decide what might be the right implementation for your organization.
