Mobile app Wickr introduces bug bounty program, offers up to $100,000

Wickr – a free iPhone and Android mobile app that allows users to send self-destructing text, audio, picture, and video messages – has introduced a vulnerability rewards program that could earn bug bounty hunters up to $100,000.

In order to qualify, the bug must be a previously unreported design or implementation flaw that has the potential to compromise user data, according to a release by Robert Statica, cofounder and CTO.

Rewards will be doled out to researchers of all ages based on an assessment by the Wickr team, Statica said, explaining that individuals must allow three months for the Wickr team to review and repair the issue before reporting their findings.

“It is impossible to overstate the importance of the role the security research community plays in securing modern software,” Statica wrote.
