Overview: Campus Manager

The Campus Manager family of appliances from Bradford Networks, Concord, N.H., combines three elements in its NAC solutions:
- Identity management – Defines who is connecting to the network (an undergraduate, graduate student, professor), with what device (laptop, iPod, IP phone, gaming systems), and from where (IP address) and when. Determinations can then be made as to the level of access allowed, and responses can be triggered.
- Endpoint compliance – With a migratory population using a variety of devices to connect remotely through a LAN or wirelessly, the threat of malicious coding infecting the network is always a possibility. Campus Manager provides endpoint compliance to assure that all users have installed the correct software to their devices and have not installed prohibited software, and it makes sure that anti-virus and anti-spyware definitions are up-to-date.
- Usage policy enforcement – Protecting bandwidth is a major challenge for any network administrator in maintaining network efficiency. Campus Manager tracks user activity and enforces acceptable use policies through identification of users, notification, problem isolation and corrective action.
