Network testing market consolidates with Ixia-BreakingPoint deal

Ixia, a provider of converged IP network testing solutions, has acquired BreakingPoint Systems, whose technology tests and simulates how networks, applications and data centers would respond to a cyber attack. The $160 million deal enables Calabasas, Calif.-based Ixia to add to its portfolio BreakingPoint's ability to "battle-test wired and wireless infrastructures, deploy compact cyber ranges, optimize network and data center systems, and transform security processes to be proactive and effective." Austin, Texas-based BreakingPoint launched in 2007.
