Police teased during pursuit to discuss cyber-crime on Twitter

The issue of cyber-crime planned to be undertaken in a Twitter discussion yesterday by the New South Wales Police. The force invited the public to engage in and ask questions on the topic.

However, Twitter users had other plans and used the police hashtag #cybercrimensw to share jokes. Before long, the thread turned into a comedic session of unrelated tweets. Many jokes and memes were shared within the one-hour session.

At first, police attempted to engage in the teasing and tried reclaiming the discussion, but soon quit as the thread and hashtag were inundated with unrelated tweets. Many were left curious if the NSW Police will try another open discussion on Twitter again.
