Privacy issues spur torrent trackers to ban Windows 10 users

A variety of outlets have indicated that torrent trackers are banning anyone running newly released Windows 10 due to concerns that the operating system is sharing data with Microsoft – reportedly even when the settings are disabled.

According to an announcement posted to Reddit, torrent tracker iTS has already banned Windows 10 users.

“Amongst other things windows 10 sends the contents of your local disks directly to one of their servers,” the announcement said, “Obviously this goes way too far and is a serious threat to sites like ours which is why we had to take measures." The announcement explained that since Thursday Windows 10 "is officially banned from iTS.”

Citing notifications from staff, a Saturday TorrentFreak report noted that torrent trackers BB and FSC are also considering banning Windows 10 users.
