As threats grow in complexity, many organizations rely on managed security service providers to handle security operations center (SOC) capabilities. However, more organizations are developing internal security operations center capabilities to manage aspects of their program.

What it takes

SOC analysts need to have a foundation in systems and network security. More senior operators need log analysis, incident handling, digital forensics, risk assessment and penetration testing. 

Compensation

Analyst roles pay from $45k to $75k with engineer and specialist roles ranging from $75k to $125K.
