Symantec extends cloud offerings

Symantec announced on Monday it has acquired LiveOffice, a privately held cloud-based archiving provider, for approximately $115 million. The Mountain View, Calif.-based company said the buy, completed Friday, will allow its customers to choose between on-premise, cloud or hybrid delivery of Symantec solutions. Torrance, Calif.-based LiveOffice offers a number of storage and e-discovery services for email, instant messaging, social media, file sharing and other applications to meet regulatory requirements. The company said it works with 20,000 companies in 50 countries.
