Three nursing homes’ security info discovered online

Security researchers discovered new documents online that put multiple nursing homes' electronic medical records and payment information at risk. The information details the type of equipment the homes use, as well as the passwords to network firewalls and the locations of computers and printers within the facilities.

The site, 4shared.com, had information on three nursing homes, according to The Wall Street Journal. One nursing home, Campbell Hall Rehabilitation Center in Campbell Hall, NY, had its brand of firewall, networking switch, internet address of wireless access points for 11 rooms, facility blueprints, and usernames and passwords granting access to the network exposed.

The nursing home documents were probably accessed through SigmaCare software, which manages electronic medical records, The WSJ reported.
