Two arrested in connection to ‘Crackas With Attitude’ gov’t attacks

Two North Carolina men were arrested Thursday for their alleged roles in hacking senior U.S. government officials and U.S. government computer systems.

Authorities say 22-year-old Andrew Otto Boggs, aka “INCURSIO,” and 24-year-old Justin Gray Liverman, aka “D3F4ULT,” conspired with members of the cybergang “Crackas With Attitude” to use social engineering tactics in order to gain unauthorized access to the personal online accounts of senior U.S. government officials, their families, and several U.S. government computer systems, according to a Sept. 8 Department of Justice press release.

In some cases, the group posted stolen information on public sites and made harassing phone calls to victims, authorities said in the release.

At least three other suspects in the U.K. are also being investigated by the Crown Prosecution Service, the release said.

Boggs and Liverman are set to appear in federal court in Alexandria, Va., next week.
