Washington AG: DSHS worker committed ID theft, stole more than $150k

Washington's Attorney General has filed charges against Timothy Darrell Fultz, a former state Department of Social and Health Services employee accused of accessing state databases and stealing $150,000 from the ClaimYourCash.org website run by Washington's Department of Revenue.

Fultz, who worked for DSHS from June 2004 until November 2013 as a benefit consultant and had access to sensitive and confidential databases, allegedly created 38 log-in identities and accessed the unclaimed property database 680 times.

He had previously signed a confidentiality pledge and internet access form provided by the DSHS, forbidding workers from using state resources to participate in illegal activities and detailing the consequences of failure to comply.

Fultz is scheduled to be arraigned June 11 in King County Superior Court on multiple counts, including first degree computer trespass, identity theft and first and second degree theft.
