Alex Stamos to become Yahoo CISO, according to report

Citing “sources familiar with the matter,” independent technology news site Re/code reported on Friday that Yahoo has tapped Alex Stamos to become its new CISO.

Yahoo did not respond to an SCMagazine.com request for confirmation, but if true, Stamos will be taking over for Justin Somaini, who departed for unconfirmed reasons in January 2013.

Stamos is a founder of iSEC Partners and is currently the CTO with Artemis Internet Inc. He most recently co-founded and hosted TrustyCon, a one-day security conference featuring speakers who dropped out of the RSA Conference following allegations that RSA entered into a secret agreement with the NSA.

Stamos will begin work with Yahoo on March 10 and will report directly to CEO Marissa Mayer, according to Re/code.
