The hacktivist collective Anonymous organized a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack this weekend that made good on the group's promise to shut down the Albuquerque Police Department's website.
In a Pastebin post last week, a member of Anonymous asked Albuquerque citizens to “occupy the sites of the Albuquerque Police Department” on March 30 in response to an officer killing a homeless man. The group shut down the police department's website on Sunday morning, according to a local news station.
Additionally, personal information on police officers was released and the group tweeted out several officers' home addresses. In anticipation of further attacks, the department shut down its Facebook and Twitter.
The victim, James Boyd, was shot and killed last month when he took out a pair of knives during a conversation with officers.
