A surge of attacks exploiting Adobe Flash Player's buffer overflow vulnerability have targeted the banking information of Japanese internet users.
The attacks are embedded in particular websites to redirect their traffic to a malicious website, according to Symantec researchers. The affected websites are not correlated and include a blogging service, a video-sharing platform and a travel agency's site.
Once redirected to the malicious site, victims using an older version of Adobe Flash Player are subjected to malware that attempts to steal banking information. Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer are all vulnerable.
Adobe released an update to address the vulnerability in April and Symantec suggests all users install it to protect themselves from further attacks.
