Bitglass joins Cloud Security Alliance

Cloud access security broker (CASB) Bitglass has joined the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), whose CSA Summit 2015: Enterprise Cloud Adoption and Security Lessons Learned, it is sponsoring.

Noting that "security remains the biggest inhibitor to cloud adoption,” Bitglass CEO Nat Kausik said in a press release that the company will work with the alliance to promote “best practices to enhance employee mobility and productivity, while securing sensitive corporate data.”

In July, CSA published updated versions of two industry security standards: the Cloud Controls Matrix (CCM) and the Consensus Assessments Initiatives Questionnaire (CAIQ). Version 3.0.1 of the documents brings significant improvements to the guidance by aligning CCM, CAIQ and the Security Guidance for Critical Areas of Focus in Cloud Computing v3, the alliance announced.

On welcoming Bitglass, Jim Reavis, CEO of CSA, said that protecting data, not devices, "is now of paramount importance."
