Black Hat organizers announce Dan Geer as keynote

On Thursday, Black Hat organizers announced that Dan Geer, the CISO at In-Q-Tel, would keynote the 2014 hacking conference in Las Vegas.

Geer, lauded as one of the security industry's “foremost pioneers,” has contributed groundbreaking work on the economics of security and in the risk management space, a release from Black Hat said.

He will take the stage on August 6, a day before the conference ends at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

In-Q-Tel, an Arlington, Va.-based not-for-profit investment firm, was launched in 1999 to support the efforts of the Central Intelligence Agency, as well as the larger U.S. intelligence community. Geer's keynote called “Cybersecurity as Realpolitik,” will examine the use of power in security, Black Hat organizer's revealed, including having the skills  to “discern cyber policies that are ‘the least worst thing,'” Geer said of his talk.
