Dell officially acquires EMC, including RSA division

In a union that creates the world's largest privately controlled technology company, Dell Technologies has officially acquired EMC Corporation, including its computer and network security division RSA, Dell announced today. As a result of the merger, Dell has grown into a $74 billion revenue company with 140,000 employees.

Bedford, Mass.-based RSA joins a portfolio of security solutions and services alongside Round Rock, Texas-based Dell's SecureWorks subsidiary. In a separate blog post published today, RSA President Amit Yoran assured readers that “There will be no changes to our product strategies, sales models, customer support interactions” and other processes. Yoran will report to David Goulden, President of Dell EMC.

RSA also issued a pair of FAQ documents that stated the merger would give the company a “broader reach” across the globe. The company refused to speculate if Dell intends to have RSA file an IPO as SecureWorks did in late 2015.
