This month, the National Security Agency (NSA) announced that five schools had received its academic distinction for Centers of Academic Excellence (CAE) in cyber operations.
Jointly overseen by NSA and DHS, the program was created to “cultivate more U.S. cyber professionals in an increasingly demanding and ever-changing environment,” a release from NSA said.
New York University, Towson University, the United States Military Academy, University of Cincinnati, and University of New Orleans all qualified for the designation in the 2014 to 2019 academic years, after fulfilling demands of the application and screening process.
With the addition of the institutions, 13 schools now offer the “elite” program on their campuses, which according to NSA, is meant to support “deeply technical” education programs, offering hands-on learning opportunities in the computer science, computer engineering, and electrical engineering disciplines.
