Healthcare orgs prepare for cyber threat readiness test

More than 750 healthcare organizations will test their cyber attack readiness during the second iteration of "CyberRX" in October.

The Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST), who leads the initiative, altered the original program's format to accommodate varying levels of cyber attack readiness, according to a release. Three different attack levels are being offered during CyberRX 2.0.

The first involves “table-top” simulations that will help evaluate an organization's response to internal processes. The second level is a regional exercise that allows participants to collaborate with other organizations, and the final level evaluates both internal and external cyber threats and organizations' readiness, response and crisis management.

The exercise simulates attacks on information systems, medical devices and other important technology resources of government and healthcare systems.
