Israel and U.S. issue joint statement on cybersecurity coordination

The U.S. Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, traveled to Israel this past week to discuss the cybersecurity challenges facing both countries.

They specifically discussed opportunities for joint investment in cybesecurity, a press release states. Mayorkas and Israeli officials also signed a joint statement confirming their commitment to promoting “cooperation and information sharing on cybersecurity and cyber research and development,” the release said.

In an unrelated move on Monday, Reuters reported Microsoft Corp.'s plans to acquire Israeli cybersecurity company Adallom for $320 million.

Adallom has raised $50 million in venture capital funds and was founded in 2012. It specializes in providing secure data solutions in the cloud.
