TinyURL skirts Safe Browsing

Google's Safe Browsing feature, which warns against phishing ploys, can be bypassed by TinyURL and other URL shortening and redirection services. According to Finjan, cybercriminals have figured out that the services can send users to malicious sites without raising alarm -- a site will not be listed as suspicious because Safe Browsing ranks sites only at the domain level. Firefox and Chrome are the chief browsers affected. -- CAM
