Tribeca Film Festival to host DefCon program in NYC

The Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) will host hacker conference DefCon April 23-25 in New York City.

The three-day program, curated by Opeyemi Olukemi, the Tribeca Film Institute's Manager of Interactive, DefCon founder Jeff Moss, aka “Dark Tangent,” and DefCon's Charel Morris, will include physical and cybersecurity hacking  and privacy programs as well as panels on practical hacking, the ethics of accuracy and other topics aimed at filmmakers' portraying hacking in their movies.

One panel, called "The Ethics of Accuracy," will discuss “where the line is between accuracy on film and shooting a training manual for miscreants,” according to a description on the TFF DefCon schedule.

Another, "Practical Hacking for Film Makers," will instruct on how to “shoot the specific tools and techniques used by hackers in the real world while maintaining your budget and sanity.”

The conference will end on April 25 with a talk by Moss.
