Possible 1.4GB data breach at Qatar National Bank

The Qatar National Bank is investigating a possible massive data breach with more than 15,000 files, or 1.4GB of data, being compromised.

The released data allegedly includes customer passwords, usernames, PINSs, payment card data along with internal bank documents, said Databreachtoday.com. The leak was exposed by Cryptome.org, but other than offering a .zip file containing the info the site did not say how it was obtained.

Qatar National Bank issued a statement on the alleged breach.

“Referring to social media speculation in regard to an alleged data breach, it is QNB Group policy not to comment on reports circulated via social media. QNB would like to take this opportunity to assure all concerned that there is no financial impact on our clients or the Bank. QNB is further investigating this matter in coordination with all concerned parties,” the bank wrote on its website.
