Ruby Receptionists disrupted by cyberattack

Portland-based Ruby Receptionists, which offers phone-answering services to over 10,000 small businesses, had its systems affected by a cyberattack against service provider Opus Interactive, The Oregonian reports. Opus Interactive was attacked on Sunday, barring Ruby Receptionists to receive online messages or incoming calls. "We are all hands on deck bringing our systems back up, and our focus right now is on getting services resumed for our customers," said Ruby Receptionists CEO Kate Winkler. Ruby has also been working on restoring its systems through Amazon Web Services' network after Opus failed to give a timetable for service resumption, with Ruby's services expected to resume today. However, the attack has not compromised any of Ruby's data, according to the company. Ruby Receptionists' notification comes after Oregon campaign finance reporting was also announced to have been impacted by the Opus Interactive attack. Threat actors have already conducted a similar attack on Ruby in 2019.
