U.S.-based networks of major Japanese zipper manufacturer YKK were confirmed to have been targeted by a cyberattack, which the company says has been immediately contained, according to The Record, a news site by cybersecurity firm Recorded Future.
Operations at YKK were not impacted by the cybersecurity incident, said YKK Corporation of America Vice President of Corporate Communications Jessica Kennett Cork.
"There is no evidence that personal or financial information or intellectual property was compromised. We take cybersecurity seriously and thank our stakeholders for their continued trust in YKK," Cork added.
No details regarding the type of cyberattack have been released by YKK but the company was warned by the LockBit ransomware operation that stolen data would be leaked by June 16. More than 1,400 attacks around the world have been linked by the U.S. Justice Department to LockBit ransomware, which most recently compromised major U.S. dental insurer Managed Care of North America.
