CISA taps former DNC chief security officer

Former Democratic National Committee Chief Security Officer Bob Lord has been enlisted by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency as its new senior technical advisor, CyberScoop reports. CISA Director Jen Easterly said that Lord will be working to bolster the Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative and community partnerships, as well as nationwide cybersecurity resilience. "Bob and I share both a passion for helping Americans stay safe online and a dedication to raising the cybersecurity baseline across the nation. I’m super excited for the creativity he’ll bring to the team," Easterly said. Following his appointment to the DNC in 2018 as the party sought to strengthen its cybersecurity following Russian hacks against the party and the presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton in 2016, Lord moved to adopt key cybersecurity guidelines prior to the 2020 polls. "As we face a pivotal moment in time for cybersecurity, I'm thrilled to contribute my experience to support CISA’s efforts to reduce risk to critical infrastructure, strengthen its collaboration with industry and make basic cyber practices accessible to all Americans," said Lord.
