BitDiscovery purchased by Tenable for $45.5M

Tenable has entered a $45.5 million all-cash deal to purchase external attack surface management startup Bit Discovery, SiliconAngle reports. The acquisition would enable Tenable to integrate Bit Discovery's EASM solutions across Tenable's product portfolio, including Nessus vulnerability assessment service, enterprise vulnerability management, operational technology and identity, and cloud systems to provide significantly better attack surface visibility to its clients. Organizations could leverage the integrated technology to better understand their security posture and possible attack pathways, according to Tenable. "Whatever is visible on the internet is very likely to be the first target and the hardest thing for organizations to continuously see and assess. We believe attack surface management is vital to modern cybersecurity and an integral part of our vulnerability and cyber exposure solutions. We are seamlessly combining previously disjointed insights and empowering security practitioners to eliminate blind spots and easily understand their cyber exposure in ways previously not possible," said Tenable Chief Technology Officer Glen Pendley.
