Gartner: Cloud platforms among top enterprise trends in 2022

October 26, 2021
Companies will focus investments in 2022 on technologies that improve automation and enable distributed services and infrastructure to accommodate the growing remote and hybrid workforce, VentureBeat reports, citing the latest trends research by Gartner. The trend toward cloud-native platforms and distributed enterprises is being driven by organizations’ increasing shift away from the traditional office-based model, which requires distributed infrastructure and services to address the needs of a geographically dispersed workforce, according to Gartner. The group predicts that the growth of 75% of distributed organizations by 2023 will surpass that of their non-distributed competitors by 25%, and 95% of all digital operations will be supported by cloud-native platforms by 2025. Gartner reports that data fabrics are emerging as a promising method for simplifying integration between data and infrastructure and could help enterprises reduce data management costs by more than 70%, while cybersecurity mesh architectures are being studied as a way to bring security to the cloud and edge and allow companies to deploy integrated security frameworks and cut the costs of security breaches by up to 90%. Meanwhile, enterprises are also exploring the capabilities of autonomic systems, which are currently being used in cybersecurity but are poised to expand into other technology sectors, such as manufacturing equipment, drones and robots.
