Report: Infrastructure, asset visibility remain a challenge for enterprises

The latest State of IT Visibility Report by Flexera found that 24% of companies are saying they have full visibility over their IT assets, 70.8% claim having some visibility and 4% say they have none, ZDNet reports.

The results of the survey highlight the ongoing challenge for organizations in monitoring their data located across cloud and on-premises infrastructures and the resulting security impact of the lack of complete visibility.

According to the survey, 80% identified lack of good data as the top challenge when making IT decisions; 73.9% said their visibility is greatest in on-premises hardware, while 68.3% say so with on-premises software, 45.9% with cloud instances and 40.9% with software-as-a-service.

The survey also found that more than 25% of hardware and software have reached their end of support or end of life, 58.8% of vulnerabilities found in software at their end of support or end of life are of low threat severity, and 45.6% of respondents said their most vulnerable category at end of life or support are operating systems
