Trend Micro introduces Open Source Security service for Cloud One

Trend Micro has unveiled Open Source Security by Snyk, which enables vulnerability detection, visibility enhancement and tracking automation for open-source software, according to IT Brief.

The software-as-a-service solution, which is available through Cloud One and AWS Marketplace, is Trend Micro’s first partner addition to the Cloud One service platform and was co-developed with Snyk.

Snyk says 80% of current application code is open-source, and open-source vulnerabilities have increased 2.5 times over the past three years, which necessitates the development of stronger security solutions in this space.

“Snyks developer-first security technology to Trend Micro's Cloud One allows more customers to tackle open-source risk on a single platform, minimising the need to manage multiple vendors and tools,” said Geva Solomonovich, Snyk’s global alliances CTO.

The service’s capabilities also include detection of licensing-related vulnerabilities and issues, and automation to allow security teams to find indirect open-source dependencies that may not be immediately identifiable in applications.
