New YugabyteDB version improves data sharing in a multi-cloud world

The latest iteration of the YugabyteDB open source database improves ease-of-use characteristics, existing high availability and horizontal scalability, reports Help Net Security.

YugabyteDB 2.4 strengthens the capabilities and features of the earlier version, furthering the company’s mission “of providing the distributed database of choice for multi-cloud environments,” said Karthik Ranganathan, Yugabyte’s chief technology officer.

He also added that the combined “major software enhancements and enterprise-grade security features available in 2.4 enables our customers to better extract full value from their data in production-grade environments, providing the comprehensive database solution needed to maximize cloud investments.”

Yugabyte’s latest release allows organizations to share data across areas with high performance and low latency. The key features of YugabyteDB 2.4 include Apache Spark 3 integration, simplified cluster administration, highly scalable and resilient GraphQL apps with Hasura, data at rest encryption with Thales Vormetric, enterprise-grade security features and support for VMware Tanzu.
