Kim Dotcom faces extradition hearing after delay request fails

Founder of the now defunct Megaupload website, Kim Dotcom, will face an extradition hearing after having lost his latest request to get it postponed.

Dotcom, along with other defendants, will face a New Zealand court on September 21 for the hearing, which will decide whether they'll be extradited to the U.S. on charges that include criminal copyright infringement.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Dotcom and his crew allegedly knew their Megaupload file-sharing site was being used to distribute copyrighted works, yet they didn't delete the files or take them down.

Although the hearing was set to continue, a judge will ultimately decide whether Dotcom and the other defendants have secured enough of an argument to delay the hearing. However, if the judge allowed it to continue, and the court said extradition processes should proceed, the defendants could appeal that ruling.
