CISA: Identification of high-risk communications equipment crucial among critical infrastructure orgs

U.S. critical infrastructure organizations have been urged by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to determine communications equipment deemed high risk by the Federal Communications Commission and strengthen their network security, according to SecurityWeek. Telecommunications services and devices from Huawei, China Telecom, Hikvision, China Unicom, China Mobile, Dahua, Hytera, Pacific Network Corp., and ZTE have been included by the FCC in its Covered List due to their risk to U.S. national security. "CISA reminds all critical infrastructure owners and operators to take necessary steps in securing the nations most critical supply chains. CISA urges organizations to incorporate the Covered List into their supply chain risk management efforts," said CISA, which also called on organizations to enroll in its free Vulnerability Scanning service to identify vulnerabilities within their environments. Organizations have also been recommended to review guidance offered by CISA and the National Institute of Standards and Technology regarding supply chain risk management.
