Apple has reportedly re-released its iOS 9.3 operating system, fixing a freezing problem that occurs during activation in some older iPhones and iPads.
However, other bugs reportedly continue to persist, causing devices to crash when clicking on certain links. Apple originally released iOS 9.3 on March 21.
According to a ZDNet report, the amended version, with the new build number 13E237, fixes the glitch that had been affecting iPhone 5s, the iPad Air and earlier models of both devices. Last week, Apple suspended iOS 9.3 downloads for these older devices after users who couldn't remember their passwords could not get past the activation step requiring them to confirm the apple ID and password linked to the device.
Apple also issued a re-release last week fixing a similar glitch affecting only the iPad 2.
However, another bug remains that causes certain apps to crash or freeze when opening links from Mail, Messages and Safari. The bug primarily affects the iPhone 6 and 6s.
