Lookout toolkit facilitates creation of more visual privacy policies

A new tool aimed at helping app developers create short-form privacy policies launched this past week.

Lookout, a mobile app security company, designed the toolkit to counter the wordy privacy policies most companies reference, as well as to keep users informed on how their data is used, according to a release. The source code is available on Github.

The privacy policies created through this tool are more visual and allow consumers to see what data is collected by category, why it's collected and with whom it is shared.

The toolkit came about after the National Telecommunications & Information Agency (NTIA) created a voluntary code of conduct that specifies how technology impacts consumers' privacy.
