Sony warns employees of potential fraud

Sony Pictures has issued a warning to employees, both current and former, that fraudsters may try to use personal data stolen when the movie studio's computers were hacked in November.

The company urged employees to be "especially aware of email, telephone and postal mail scams that ask for personal or sensitive information."

Attackers, in a message posted on Pastebin, have threatened to release more “emails and privacy of the Sony Pictures employees” but said that employees who didn't want their “privacy to be released” should tell them their name and business title so their data would be removed.

Sony said the attack, which crippled the company, resulted a handful of film titles being leaked online and revealed telling and, in some cases, embarrassing email exchanges among executives, is still under investigation.

The company is providing identity theft protection to employees.
